The second stop on our Southern Caribbean vacation cruise took us to the beautiful island of St. Lucia. We had decided that on this cruise that we would check out a couple of resorts and their beaches. On St. Lucia we decided to investigate the magnificent Windjammer Landing Resort.
This resort is situated on over 60 acres of land rising up from the cove beach to the top of the hill. As we entered the port of Castries, we noticed a number of white buildings with red roofs stretching from the sea to the top of a hill. At that time we did not realise that we were looking at the resort we were about to visit.
Windjammer Landing Resort is owned by a construction family from Canada. Their company – Ellis-Don – is a large international concern.
The grounds as we approached Windjammer main lobby were very nicely landscaped. That was the first impression that we needed – well looked-after and welcoming.
We had the opportunity to view a couple of the resort’s suites. The view from these was amazing! One of the suites had an entrance where you walked in and looked out windows in a circle stairway right onto the beach area – from waaayyyy up. People on the beach looked like ants. Both of the suites we visited had balconies and either a pool or hot tub.
At the beach there is a lunch restaurant with a bar as well as a beach bar. Another restaurant that served larger meals overlooked the beach and one of the two pool areas.
Other amenities at the resort included a teen center, two tennis courts and a fitness center. Of course there are numerous water sports activities available including kayaks, surf boards, paddle boats, sail boats, water trampoline, swimming raft and snorkelling. Water skiing is available for a fee.
The beach area again was very quiet. With all of the available activities available one would think that it would have been busier.
This resort is a beautiful place to have a relaxing and restful vacation. If you are looking more for action and lively entertainment you will need to look past the Windjammer Landing Resort.
