Well we just got back from a week’s vacation in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. But this post is not about the vacation (we’ll cover that in another post). This post is about our drive there and specifically about the overnight stay in West Seneca NY booked on hotels.com .
First let me back up a minute. We live in a small village in southwestern Ontario. After my wife was done work we headed out for the border at Fort Erie. The border was not busy so we breezed through. Our destination for the night was the Country Inn and Suites in West Seneca, New York where we arrived at the hotel at about 7 o’clock.
As I mentioned the hotel had been booked through hotels.com online. That was a seamless process and all went smoothly. I had done my due diligence and check pricing at various websites and even called the hotel for their best rates. Hotels.com had the best rates for the room.
I like the hotels.com website especially when you’re searching for a hotel. The website gives you a variety of options for hotels including their star rating and their hotels.com user rating. They show their lowest price and when you click on a hotel you get the option of upgrades.
The hotel we chose was the Country Inn and Suites. This proved to be an excellent choice. Upon arrival, friendly staff quickly got us checked in. Before retrieving our luggage we decided to go up to the room and check it out. We were pleasantly surprised by the size and decor of the room.
After grabbing our luggage and taking it up to the room we went back to the desk for some suggestions for places to have a nice dinner. Again the staff was very friendly and very helpful. The girl at the desk gave us a number of options. They even had a sheet with the names and directions of some of the restaurants printed off all ready for their guests.
After a wonderful (and over-filling) dinner we returned back to our hotel. The king size bed in the room was most comfortable. It afforded us a necessary and welcomed good night sleep. Waking refreshed in the morning we decided to take advantage of the exercise room and pool.
The exercise room was small but equipped with newer state-of-the-art equipment. This included treadmills recumbent bike and elliptical trainers. After a few minutes on the equipment we decided to head next door to the pool.
The pool area which was adjacent to the exercise room was a nice size. The pool itself was longer than many of the pools that we had seen in hotels which made it nice for doing laps. There was a hot tub in the pool area which we did not take advantage of. This area had plenty of room around the pool so that if there were a number of people in there you would not feel crowded.
It was a beautiful sunny morning so we decided to step outside the pool area into the sun to dry off. An exterior door led directly to a protected patio area. It was looking like a great day for the remainder of our trip. Once we had dried off a bit we headed back to the room for a shower and then to breakfast.
The breakfast area in the hotel was quite large. The complimentary breakfast was very good and quite satisfying. There was a large variety as well. You could choose from hot and cold cereals, rolls, muffins, toast, bagels, waffles, eggs, ham and fruit. After a filling breakfast it was time to leave.
Upon checkout we headed to the car and discussed the possibility of returning to this hotel on our way home. This is been such a wonderful experience and we may not have found the Country Inn and Suites without the help of hotels.com.
